Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I know which services are right for me?
If your child or adolescent is experiencing challenges with mental health or academics, our services may be right for you. From individual therapy to personalized academic intervention plans, Bright Lights Psychology Clinic is here to provide the support your child needs.
Why choose Bright Lights?
Bright Lights Psychology Clinic takes a unique, multidisciplinary approach to your child’s care. Our team includes both psychologists and teachers, and all services are overseen by a registered psychologist. This allows us to create a tailored plan that supports your child in the areas they need most.
What if my child already has a therapist, psychologist, or educator?
We encourage collaboration with other professionals. If your child already sees another psychologist, we can establish a secure and confidential data-sharing agreement between both clinics.
Does the clinic have parking?
Yes. Parking is available:
Green P lot at Christie Station (TTC)
Street parking on Bloor Street and Christie Street
How do I find out whether my insurance covers Bright Lights services?
Please contact your insurance provider directly regarding your policy and coverage. Our services are registered psychological services, and most extended health insurance plans provide coverage.
How long are the sessions, and how many will we need?
Sessions are typically:
30 minutes
60 minutes
The length and number of sessions depend on the client’s needs and the recommendations of the academic interventionist or clinician.
How involved are parents or guardians in the sessions?
Parental involvement depends on the case and the type of service.
For Academic Intervention, we recommend that parents attend the first session to meet the teacher and review the academic plan.
Your clinician or interventionist will communicate with parents if concerns arise or changes are recommended.
What if I change my mind and no longer want to continue?
You may cancel or discontinue sessions at any time. Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid charges for late cancellations or no-shows.
What are the clinic’s policies for cancelled or late appointments?
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations.
Missed or late-cancelled sessions are charged at the full session fee.
